Trapped in Polyphemus’ cave, resourceful Odysseus put into motion a bold plan: he offered the Cyclops a sweet wine of Marona. Enraptured by the divine taste, the giant asked to hear the name of the leader of these strangers with the promise that he would grant him a precious gift. The resourceful man then offered him another three times from this divine wine and when he was sure that the giant was inebriated, he told
him his name was NOMAN.
Odysseus then rose, grabbed a sharp branch and, with the help of his companions, thrust the sharp point into Polyphemus’ eye. He got up screaming and called for help. The other Cyclops ran outside the cave “what happened to you Polyphemus” they asked. “Noman has blinded me”.
“If noman has blinded you, then what are you yelling about?” they answered
and left in anger.
Εγκλωβισμένος ο πολυμήχανος Οδυσσέας στην σπηλιά του Πολύφημου έβαλε σε εφαρμογή ενα τολμηρό σχέδιο: πρόσφερε στον Κύκλωπα το γλυκόπιοτο κρασί του Μάρωνα. Ενθουσιασμένος από την θεική γεύση ο γίγαντας, ζήτησε να μάθει το όνομα του αρχηγού των ξένων με την θπόσχεση πως θα του χάριζε ένα πολύτιμο δώρο. Ο πολυμήχανος άντρας τον κέρασε άλλες τρεις φορές απο το θεικό κρασί και όταν ήταν βέβαιος πως ο γίγαντας είχε μεθύσει, του είπε πως το όνομά του ήταν ΚΑΝΕΝΑΣ.
Συκώθηκε τότε ο Οδυσσέας, άρπαξε το μυτερο κλαδί και, με τη βοήθεια των συντρόφων του, το κάρφωσε στο μάτι του πολυφημου. Εκείνος πετάχτικε ουρλιάζοντας και φώναζε βοήθεια. Οι άλλοι κύκλωπες έτρεξαν έξω απ’την σπηλιά «τι έπαθες Πολύφημε», ρωτούσαν. «Με τύφλωσε ο Κανένας».
«Αφού κανένας δε σε τύφλωσε, τι φωνάζεις» του απάντησαν και έφυγαν θυμωμένοι.
